Dr. Alicia Marín is a Medical Doctor with a Master’s degree in Palliative Care from Costa Rica and multiple postgraduate degrees from Spain, including a Master’s in Biological and Naturopathic Medicine from the University of León, a Master’s in Nutrition, Medicine and Orthomolecular Practice, and a Master’s in Precision Health from the European School of Health Sciences. She also holds a Diploma in Functional Medicine from EAFIT University in Colombia.

Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Education at La Salle University in Costa Rica and working toward certification in Functional Medicine from The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) in the United States.

She stays constantly up to date through congresses, courses, and symposia around the world, where she is also frequently invited to speak.

Dr. Marín works as a consultant for companies and chambers of commerce in areas related to research, development, formulation, regulatory registration, marketing, education, and promotion of natural products, nutritional supplements, food, and healthy lifestyles.

She also leads a regulatory affairs consultancy specializing in advising and managing the sanitary registration of products before government institutions.

In addition to her consulting work, she is a professor at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at several universities, and a national and international spokesperson on topics related to integrative and naturopathic medicine, as well as natural and functional foods.

A pioneer in advocating for the inclusion of Precision Health and Nutrition in undergraduate and postgraduate health science curricula in Costa Rica, she works to promote awareness of integrative medicine tools and the scientific evidence that supports them—contributing to the academic and clinical recognition of these fields.

She was awarded the “Prize to the Leader in Research and Health Sciences for the Benefit of Mankind 2021–2022” by the International Society for Research, Health, Business Development and Technologies (SIISDET).
